本書は、視覚、そして物理空間とデジタルメディア空間における身体的・空間的な体験との関係を探る一冊。あえて言葉を用いず、物語的なものからより抽象的なものまで、さまざまなドローイングによって展開される。本作が焦点を当てるのは、物理空間における視覚的な理解の前提となる、あらゆる感覚の相互作用である。デジタルメディアの映像空間を見るとき、この相互作用は断片化し、身体的な体験は仮想空間へと投影される。

では、我々の「自己の持つ確かさ」の感覚はどこに宿るのだろうか。体験がメディアの領域へと移るにつれ、我々は物理的な体験や能力、ひいては身体的・社会的な体験や能力を、ますます失っていくのだろうか。

“LOOK!” explores vision and the relationships between vision and bodily-spatial experiences in physical and digital-media spaces. The content is deliberately developed not through language, but through drawings that range from narrative to more abstract forms. The book focuses on the interplay of all the senses as a prerequisite for visual understanding in physical space. When viewing digital media image spaces, this interplay becomes fragmented, and bodily experience is projected into virtual space.

Where, then, is our sense of self-assurance situated? Will we increasingly lose our physical—and thus also our bodily and social—experiences and abilities as our experience shifts into the media realm?
