現代美術界で重要な賞の一つである「ターナー賞」を2005年に受賞し、コペンハーゲンを拠点に活動するイギリス人アーティスト、サイモン・スターリング（Simon Starling）の作品集。2024年4月から5月にかけて「モダン・インスティテュート（The Modern Institute）」で開催された展覧会に伴い刊行された。

本書は、2023年に作者が制作した作品「Houseboat for Ho」に関する一冊である。同作は、芸術作品と建設プロジェクトの両側面を持ち、かつボリビアの葦船（草船）職人とデンマークの茅葺き屋根職人による異文化・技術・美しさの交流の成果でもあり、一見調和しないと思われるなつの伝統が、気候変動という非常事態によって、共存し、闘う新しい方法を提案するために組み合わされている。

デンマーク、ユトランド半島南西部にある村「ホー（Ho）」は、海岸に近いことから、気候変動による海面上昇の直接的な脅威にさらされた低地に存在する。本作は、この村のために特別に開発されたものであり、現地の伝統的な農村の住居と、エキゾチックな船という2つの要素を併せ持つ。また、地理的には離れているものの関連性のある2つの古の技術、すなわち葦船の建造技術と茅葺き技術を用いて造られたハイブリッド構造であり、その姿はまるで陸と海のはざまで揺れ動く予言的な方舟のようである。

This artist book looks at Simon Starling's "Houseboat for Ho", built in 2023, both art and construction project and the result of cross-cultural collaboration between Bolivian and Danish reed builders / Houseboat for Ho has been developed specially for the low-lying village of Ho, in an area that is directly threatened by climate change-induced sea level rise. Part locally inspired vernacular rural dwelling, part exotic boat, Houseboat for Ho is a hybrid structure built using two related but geographically remote ancient technologies - reed boat building and thatching. Torn between the land and the sea, this prophetic, Ark-like vessel, is the result of a cross-cultural collaboration - an exchange of techniques and histories between Danish thatched roof builders and Bolivian reed boat builders.
