1960年代、イタリアがデザインの中心地として重要な地位を築いてきたその時代を語るに欠かせない人物である作者は、とりわけ「オリベッティ（Olivetti）」、「カッシーナ（Cassina）」、「ビー・アンド・ビー イタリア（B&B Italia）」、「ヴィトラ（Vitra）」、「アルテミデ（Artemide）」といったブランドのために、エレガントでドラマチック、そして時に詩的なデザインを手がけたことで知られている。1987年には「ニューヨーク近代美術館（MoMA）」で回顧展が開催され、イタリアで最も権威のあるデザイン賞「コンパッソ・ドーロ国際賞（Compasso d'Oro）」を8度受賞、さらに影響力を高く持つイタリアの建築・デザイン雑誌『ドムス（Domus）』では1986年から1991年まで編集長を務め、世界中のクライアントや場所に向けた建築やデザインを生み出し続けてきた。
