ロンドンと香港にギャラリースペースを構える「WHITE CUBE」の作品集。本ギャラリーは1993年の設立以来、世界でも評価の高い現代アーティストの作品を数多く展示し、受賞歴のあるモノグラフ、展覧会カタログ、アーティストブックを出版してきた。本書は、ギャラリーとしてだけでなく出版社としても名高い本ギャラリーが、これまで関わってきたアーティストたちの実践を紹介する、ビジュアルエッセイ、講演、対談、詩、寄稿文を収録した年一度刊行シリーズ作の2024年版である。
Companion, White Cube gallery’s annual reader, is a compilation of contemporary art and discourse. Visual essays, in-conversations, lectures, poetry, artist writings and newly commissioned texts are just some of the forms of creative expression and scholarship brought together in a single volume.
Highlights include polemical artist writing from the archive of Richard Hunt; a first-time translation of Takis in conversation with Félix Guattari; research notes and personal reflections by Tiona Nekkia McClodden; newly commissioned writing on Etel Adnan by Quinn Latimer and Christian Marclay by Briony Fer; a close reading on a lesser known Jackson Pollock work by the late David Anfam; and visual essays by Sergej Jensen, Danica Lundy, TARWUK and Danh Vo that, each in their own way, recontextualise artistic practice.
